60th birthday, 30 years of research, and the future

The 60th birthday of Rich Kelley was celebrated at Tanegashima. Dr. Kelley is the head of the SXS, the primary instrument of ASTRO-H. The principle part of the SXS employs an X-ray Microcalorimeter. Rich has been involved in the research and development of such microcalorimeters for over 30 years — more than half of his life! Both ASTRO-H and Rich’s research are moving on to the next stage!
